Chili Oil

Learn how to make my base chili oil as well as how to adapt it in several ways to your own palate with my simple step by step guide.

1) Choose your chili flakes. I like these Sichuan ones

2) But these Italian chilli flakes  will work too

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

3) I'd recommend these as your essential spices 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

4) And these are optional additions 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

5) Place the spices in oil on a gentle heat to infuse

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

6) After 60 minutes the oil will be infused 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

7) Then sieve out the spices, they can be discarded

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

8) Heat the oil back up over a medium-high heat 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

9) Mix together the chili flakes and salt 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

10) Pour the hot oil over the chili flakes 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

11) Let it bubble away

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

12) Let the chili oil cool completely 

DISHBYRISH.CO.UK

13) And your chili oil is done!
